ABC: Up On the Roof

DWTS10_TEASE_ThumbNew-1.jpg

Because our promo package for Dancing With the Stars, Season 9 was so off-the-chain, ABC invited us back to recreate the magic for season 10. Only this time, they didn't just want a promo package, they wanted us to repackage the entire show—something they hadn't done in 10 successful seasons. So we spit-shined our dancing shoes and got to work.

We began by relocating the dancers and celebrities to a rooftop high amongst a dramatic cityscape, giant LED billboards, and the looming shadow of the DWTS trophy. Each pro dancer and celebrity got a moment to show off their moves for the show open, promos, and profiles within the show.

The lights, the glitz, the glamour, the sweet moves of Buzz Aldrin: all came together to provide ABC with an entirely new and dynamic toolkit highlighting the "live event" feel of the show, while maintaining the energy and dramatic scope of the previous season's package.

USA: We're Approved

The USA Network celebrated their 2nd annual Character Approved Awards in February 2010, honoring artists, entrepreneurs, and innovators at the forefront of modern culture. So, fittingly, they called on L&C—vanguards in our own right—to create a massive video installation to play during the star-studded event.

The gala was held at Frank Gehry's IAC building on the west side of Manhattan, home to the highest resolution video wall in the entire world: a 21-million pixel canvas.

A two-day super slow motion shoot with a Phantom camera provided more than enough material to composite the 6 minute video piece. Honorees included Kathryn Bigelow, Kehinde Wiley, and Green Day. Somebody even saw Jeff Goldblum!

Speed TV: Revved Up

duel_thumb.jpg

L&C was tasked with completely overhauling how Nascar looks on Speed TV - from the graphics, to the footage, to the edit, to the language, to the music, and everything in between.

We wanted to get away from the standard pickup trucks and stars and bars, and really capture the emotional experience of being at a race. The final result was an all-inclusive, soup-to-nuts delivery that included a new tagline, new scripts, new music, 7 spots, 5 IDs, and 9 graphic packages & toolkits covering every aspect of Nascar on Speed.

Shooting original footage trackside at the races gave all of us a crash course in America’s other national pastime. Going to Daytona is like discovering the Superbowl for the first time - you can't understand how you could be so out of touch with how most of your fellow citizens spend their Sundays. And when the fighter jets buzz the track, you can’t help but think to yourself “this is SO freakin’ EPIC!”

L&C's Got A Brand New Bag

Tokyo_Skyline.jpg

We're heading into the Summer of 2010 with a brand new website and a brand new reel. The site digs deeper into our work with short stories and explorations of some of our biggest hits, while the new reel presents an epic side of L&C that many have heard about, but few have witnessed. Both site and reel are designed to present a bigger, better picture of who we are and what we do, and to embed us deep into the national subconscious. For our next trick, we're looking into branded astral projections. Stay tuned!
